DESCRIPTION

Design Thinking has become the protagonist of the most recent literature on innovation and is confirmed as a social technology: a set of functional tools and methodologies to break conventions, identify new directions and develop new products and services. In Italy too, Design Thinking is object of attention, especially from strategic consulting firms and ICT companies. Today, these realities tend to converge, as traditional strategic consulting firms are adopting ICT skills, while ICT firms are acquiring traditional consulting ones. These skills are typically acquired by companies either by creating an in-house design division or by absorbing existing realities as design firms. This contribution presents some illustrative cases of strategic consulting and ICT firms that have introduced Design Thinking to intervene in different sectors, from finance and insurance to energy and utilities; from the entertainment sector to Public Administration.
