The project, which lasted 5 years, has as its main objective the identification of innovative design trajectories in the HVAC sector, to help the company propose products that meet the needs of users of the near future. A back-casting approach was used: imagining a desirable future scenario and the steps necessary to achieve it, setting a different time horizon to look at from year to year, from the farthest (20 years) to the closest (3 years). The activities are carried out in collaboration with the company's design team, favouring an exchange of methodologies and knowledge.
The project is built on a defined format that includes a research phase on a brief circumscribed by the company within the macro research theme, an envisioning phase and an ideation and development phase of the concept. The research phase is conducted by a team of young researchers and designers and is carried out through desk and field research activities, including trend research, qualitative benchmarking, peest research, expert interview, BlueSky research. In the envisioning phase, scenarios are defined in which concepts are conceived through a co-creation workshop with the company. The results of the workshop are then used by the company to stimulate the internal design team and product development for the European market.
