Main objective

The project aims to analyse the market to explore how production waste from Cutting Edges' can be sustainably repurposed into a line of furniture products. The core design challenge lies in reusing virgin material that, despite being considered waste, retains its high quality and can be reused without reprocessing it.

Main activities

The benchmarking analysis focused on three key areas:
• Material Analysis: A market study on products made from birch wood or similar materials, integral to Cutting Edges' supply chain and future product development.
• Stylistic Analysis: An exploration of design languages traditionally linked to light woods in furniture.
• Process Analysis: A study of the cultural and communicative value of repurposing production waste.
The final research report helped the company understand the market and launch its own furniture line.
